Fantastic video's of Preflight inspection and How to fly the B-24D model. I know this is for the "D", I doubt they actually made a film for the "J" model since they were probably similar at inspection and start. If you've got an hour and a half, I highly suggest these videos for viewing.

Who we are and why spend time on this project?

My name is Brant Dempster, grand-nephew of 1st Lt. Robert A. Dempster, Jr., first-pilot of Consolidated B-24J, Serial Number 42-72989, the "Pistol Pakin Mamma".

Shot down over Marcus Island while on an armed reconnaissance (bombing) mission from Saipan, September 11th, 1944, only 1 man survived from a 10 man crew. With the help of 4 other (at this time) crew families; the Brabender, Brodziak, Smith, and Robb families, we are bringing to life the story of this brave American air crew and their heroics. Virtually unknown to history, this crew lead several missions in the Central Pacific air war theater and had almost completed their 35 mission quota. They were on the first land-based bombing mission to soften Iwo Jima on August 10, 1944 in preparation for the Marine landing and were also heavily involved in many a harrowing air fight with Japanese forces on many occasions.

By faith, luck and shear determination, they successfully completed their missions to the end; even making the "papers" once with one particular story which is retold in the book: "One Damned Island After Another, The saga of the 7th"
